On January 20, 2025, President Trump’s executive order that deprives birthright U.S. citizenship from children born to a mother who is unlawfully present in the United States or who is in the U.S. under a temporary status including the Visa Waiver Program or visiting on a student, work, or tourist visa. Exceptions apply to the child whose father is a lawful permanent resident, or a U.S. citizen.
